Esports Entertainment Group Enters New Jersey Sports Wagering Market

The Esports Entertainment Group has forged a long-term agreement with Double River Global Holdings to enter the New Jersey sports wagering market.

The company intends to introduce a distinctive mobile application that, upon activation, will enable residents of the state to place bets on a range of esports competitions.

At present, esports betting in New Jersey is subject to individual authorizations from the state’s Division of Gaming Enforcement. Nevertheless, a proposal introduced by Assemblyman Ralph Caputo in January seeks to ease these restrictions, permitting betting on esports alongside conventional sporting events.

The A637 bill cleared the New Jersey Assembly in late July and has been forwarded to the Senate, where it is presently under review by the State Government, Wagering, Tourism and Historic Preservation Committee.

The partnership and subsequent launch are dependent on Double River securing the essential regulatory approvals to finalize its acquisition of the Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
