Okada Manila Power Struggle Continues as Appeals Tribunal Backs Tiger Resort

The Philippines Appeals Tribunal has ruled in favor of Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment Inc. (TRLEI) in its continuing legal battle with Japanese tycoon Kazuo Okada. The tribunal rejected Okada’s request to block the company’s board from functioning, effectively affirming TRLEI’s authority over Okada Manila.

This judgment comes after a dramatic episode where Okada was forcibly ejected from the Okada Manila casino by approximately 50 people. Okada had been previously removed from the company in 2017 due to accusations of financial impropriety but had sought to reclaim control earlier this year based on a High Court ruling.

Despite his attempts, including this recent legal action, Okada has encountered obstacles in his endeavor to regain control of the casino. The situation intensified with his forceful removal, an event witnessed by Philippine law enforcement and documented on social platforms, which further solidified TRLEI’s standing.

In the wake of the appellate court’s ruling, Tiger Resort, Leisure and Entertainment Inc., the entity operating Okada Manila, declared that its counsel is gearing up to elevate the matter to the highest court. The firm asserts that the seizure of the casino resort on the second of September was unlawful.
